MusicGrid is a neat little Android step sequencer. You get a grid composed of circles, and there's an imaginary "line" that scans the grid from top to bottom. Whenever the line gets to an active circle, it makes a sound.
It's the same concept as Tonematrix, but it's for Android. It's certainly not the only sequencer on the block - there are plenty of music-making applications for Android. In fact, it's quite limited compared to other applications. You cannot save your creations or loop several screens together, and the included sounds are rudimentary.
For me, that's part of the fun. It's a very accessible application. You won't be composing a complete song with it, but if you just have a simple melody running through your head, it's a great way to quickly sketch it.
I will be covering more powerful Android music-making applications soon, but MusicGrid is a lovely app to start with.
